Scratchboard refers to both a fine-art medium, and an illustrative technique using sharp knives and tools for engraving into a thin layer of white China clay that is coated with dark, often black India ink.
Over these 6 weekly classes you will learn this fascinating form of direct engraving where you will learn to scratch off dark ink to reveal a white layer beneath.
You will learn how to work in highlights to create stunning animal portraits using just a Xacto Blade.
You will create a work in black and white and then add color to create a real 3D feel to your piece.
